1. Find a repetitive task
For a week, record repeated actions: copying enquiries, sending price lists or compiling reports. Note the time spent, owner and errors for each.
2. Define the rules
What starts the process, which data does it need and what should it produce? If the rules are unambiguous, conventional automation may be enough.
3. Run a small pilot
Choose one process. Test normal situations and exceptions. Define when a person steps in and what happens if the system fails.
4. Compare with the baseline
Track time, errors and missed tasks. Move on when the first process has a clear, measurable result.
